According to NACO (National Aids Control Organization of India ) the prevalence of AIDS in India in 2015 was0.26% which is down from 0.41 in 2002.The last decade has seen 50% decline in the number of new HIV infection, according to more recent NACO data India has demonstrated an overall reduction of 57% in estimated annual new HIV infections (among adult population)from 0.274 million in 2000 to 0.116 million in 2011 and the estimated number of peoole living with HIV was 2.08 in 2011.
Mobile Helpline
It has thus been decided by the DCW that now 181 helpline will be integrated with DCW’s Mobile Helpline also. The Mobile helpline offer crisis intervention and legal aid at community level and help to tackle marital disputes and violence against women. The 24-hour Mobile Helpline provides immediate relief to women in distress, the Helpline counselor either counsels the people involved in the incident or provides help in registering an FIR or acquire medical assistance for the woman in distress.
Street Theater
Street theater has always been an integral part of our organisation, street theater has always been a significant feature in the lives of rural communities as the only source of entertainment especially utilised as a n awareness raising and development tool by civil society and development organisations. In recent years street theater has picked up pace and has acquired an image of a more moral nature with just the right kind of fun.
Mahila Panchayat
Mahila panchayat offer crisis intervention and legal aid at community level and help tackle local level disputes and assist in reduction and reconciliation of violence against women. Delhi Commission for Women has promoted the setting up of Mahila Panchayats. Mahila Panchayats is an innovative collective approach for community participation in dispute redressal. After need assessment and motivation, community leaders are identified and these women are then motivated to volunteer as Mahila Panchayat Members. The 20 MPs members are trained in legal issues, dispute redressal mechanism, trained in the laws relevant to crimes against women, given exposure about the existing legal position regarding property, maintenance, marriage, custody, etc.
